Grand Paris Express – Line 15 East North: Soletanche Bachy mobilised across three strategic stations

As part of the IRIS joint venture, the teams of Soletanche Bachy France, BESSAC and Soletanche Bachy Tunnels are working on three stations of Line 15 East of the Grand Paris Express, in Seine-Saint-Denis. Each construction site has its own technical constraints and demands a high level of precision.

Drancy – Bobigny Station

The first station to be launched, it is also the first to be delivered in diaphragm walls in early March. The works mobilised 1,500 tonnes of steel for 15,150 m² excavated, with a 3-metre embedment into the coarse limestone. The TBM will pass through an “empty box” in roughly a year’s time, following the completion of part of the station’s permanent structures, built using the top-down method under the protection of the diaphragm walls.

Fort d’Aubervilliers Station

The diaphragm walls of this second station are nearing completion. In total, 17,800 m² have been excavated and 1,800 tonnes of steel installed. Before civil works begin — also planned using the top-down method in autumn — the demobilisation of diaphragm wall equipment is getting underway in parallel with a pumping test scheduled for early summer, which will determine whether or not a grouted base slab is required.

Mairie d’Aubervilliers Station

The deepest station on Line 15 East North, located just a few metres from the town hall, it requires diaphragm walls reaching 56 metres in depth, embedded in the coarse limestone to approximately 15 m, for a total excavated area of 21,000 m² and a total of 2,500 tonnes of steel installed. The TBM will pass through a “full box” this summer, while the diaphragm walls will not yet be fully completed. Another distinctive feature of this station is the installation of 8 pre-founded columns using heavy-duty PRS sections (600 t), anchored in foundation barrettes.

Congratulations to the teams on these projects!
